It started with an issue that I could not ignore.
One in 600-700 babies around the world are born each year with cleft lip and palate conditions. Many families are not able to afford the medical treatment.
Children in developing countries with unrepaired clefts live in shame, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing and speaking. Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate.
Which led me to the question:
Why wasn’t there a better way to sustainably provide funds
to pay for these life changing surgeries?
I realized I could be part of creating a solution.
It dawned on me the logical choice was lip care. It’s so connectible to the cause, so small, so affordable, so replenishable, and so simple. In fact as I reflected on all my personal care essentials this was one prized possession I could not go without.
Formulating the first lip balms and selling thousands of them door-to-door ultimately raised thousands of dollars for cleft surgeries. This further fueled my passion and commitment to reach onward to develop and share Lasting Smiles.
No longer door-to-door, today, we are proudly sold nationwide in some of the finest specialty and drug/cosmetic retailers in the country. The more we grow, the more smiles we bring to children and communities.
Lasting Smiles always,
