We’re delighted to share that award-winning actor Liev Schreiber is narrating the forthcoming documentary film, The Quiet Village, that Realize Impact invested in last year with investor-donor support. Not only is this film highly relevant and impactful, but Liev’s involvement has personal significance for me.
The Quiet Village, the latest of numerous films by Ashton Gleckman, is a four-part documentary that uncovers the untold story of Kulmhof, the first extermination camp established by the Nazi regime during the Holocaust. Between 1941 and 1945, at least 152,000 people, mainly Jews, were murdered there in gas vans by the SS and German police. Only seven people escaped, and six survived the war. The Quiet Village is a story of humanity and remembrance, presenting a confronting look at one of the darkest chapters in human history.
Ten years ago this very month, I had the pleasure of performing alongside Liev’s father, Tell Schreiber, in a Seattle-area production of David Guterson’s Snow Falling on Cedars. Tell was a talented and kind-hearted veteran of the stage who unfailingly showed deep generosity as a scene partner, and also spoke fondly of Liev. He passed away during the Covid-19 pandemic and is sorely missed by those of us who had the good fortune of working with him. It warms my heart to know that at least on some small level, Realize Impact is supporting the the engagement of Liev in Ashton’s important film.
